Terms of Reference

Advise the Vice-Provost (Research) on:

  • All matters relating to the development and subsequent implementation of the College’s Research Strategy 2015-2019
  • Responses to external consultations relating to research and research training
  • Opportunities to communicate and promote the profile of research and its impacts at Imperial
  • Implementation of the College's research data management and open access policies, College's compliance with external funder mandates, and related scholarly communications initiatives
  • Opportunities to engage in research partnerships
  • Best practice from across the sector that can inform enhancement within College
  • Strategic funding opportunities and priorities
  • Stakeholder relationships including those with the research councils and other funders, with learned societies and with government.

 Receive and consider reports from:

  • Faculty Research Committees
  • Graduate School
  • Library Services
  • Others as appropriate to the membership.

 Core Membership:

Ad-Hoc members by invitation:

  • Head of International Office
  • Head of Research Communications
  • Head of Scholarly Communications Management
  • Chief Executive of Imperial Consultants
  • Head of Postdoc Development Centre
  • Faculty Deans (Deans will always be invited to attend meetings when visits from funding bodies or other important external stakeholders are taking place).

The Vice-Provost's Advisory Group for Research will meet on a monthly basis between September and July.  It is supported by the Funding Strategy team in the Research Office.
